The coffee story
Finca Higuerones was purchased by Coopelibertad in the middle 90’s to the Tournon Family, there was preoccupation by Coopelibertad board members at that time because they thought that the farm could be urbanized and it could cause some troubles with the environment and neighborhoods. Because on the farm's northeast border, which is just in front of the Street there are many huge and old Higuerones trees with amazing exposed roots. The neighborhoods know this place as (el raicero) and the farm was called Higuerones because of the trees. Now, this farm is certified by a Costa Rican Project called Nama Café which is focused in to reduce the environmental impact that is produced by coffee farming and processing like greenhouse gases.
The process
The coffee usually arrives at the mill during the afternoon and it is kept in a siphon tank for 24 hours. Next, the coffee is pulped at night and placed in a tank for 12 hours more, after that period the pulped coffee is transported through a channel with a low quantity of water until the drying section where is going to be on drying beds for 6 days and then the dry process is finished in mechanical dryer machines for a period of 24 hours.More from this seller
