La historia del café
This coffee is produced by 65 organic coffee farmers of the ECA Flor de Maiz association in Villa Hortensia Antigua village, located in the town of San Juan Cotzal. San Juan is a short drive away from Chajul, where the association Aproveg grows the main coffee sold by FECCEG called Quiché. It is near the San Andres Peak, which reaches 2198 m, and the Santa Avelina Falls.
Villa Hortensia has many farmers dedicated to coffee that struggle to get good prices for their crop. So much that a few years back they would say coffee wasn't worth the effort. They organised themselves to look for a market and to getter prices as the coffee produced in the community is purely organic. The group approached FECCEG to buy coffee at a fair price, and FECCEG made a commitment to support them with technical assistance to improve production. The producers have been steadily improving their quality and now other people are joining the association due to the opportunities farmers are having and the support provided by FECCEG.

El proceso
The cherries are sorted and pulped by the farmers and then sundried on patios. The coffee is then collected by FECCEG and dry milled at the cooperative's warehouse.Más sobre este vendedor
