The coffee story

This coffee was short-listed by the Cup of Excellence (CoE) jury in Peru this year. It was cupped 4 times by an experienced team selected by Central de Café y Cacao, the organization behind the local CoE chapter, in Lima in preparation for the auction. This lot didn't make it to the international phase. However, this is an outstanding coffee amongst the best the country can offer! Gerardo's coffee is being offered exclusively to roasters in Europe for direct sales for the first time this harvest. The initiative is being coordinated by Algrano in partnership with Central de Café y Cacao and Pachamama Inversiones with support from the Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE).

Farner name: Gerardo Huaroc Yalo
Farm: Huaroc Yalo
Location: Vista Alegre, Pangoa, Satipo province, Junin region
Altitude: 1700m.a.s.l.
Process:  Washed

I bought my farm in the year of 2008. Since then, my family and I have been growing coffee. We persevered despite the yellow rust plague, which hit us not long after our first harvest in 2011 - only three bags of coffee back then. Nowadays we have 5 hectares of coffee and we want to continue growing.

The process

Washed and dried on a concrete patio for 8 days.
