The coffee story

This coffee was short-listed by the Cup of Excellence (CoE) jury in Peru this year. It was cupped 4 times by an experienced team selected by Central de Café y Cacao, the organization behind the local CoE chapter, in Lima in preparation for the auction. This lot didn't make it to the international phase. However, this is an outstanding coffee amongst the best the country can offer! Filadelfo's coffee is being offered exclusively to roasters in Europe for direct sales for the first time this harvest. The initiative is being coordinated by Algrano in partnership with Central de Café y Cacao and Pachamama Inversiones with support from the Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE).

My fathers acquired this farm in the 90s, it had 2.5 hectares over the mountain. Began seeding 0.5 hectares with Caturra and Typica varieties. In 1997 all the farm was sow preserving the same varieties. Within 2005 to 2016 we acquired more lands and today we have as a Cordova Mejia family 8has of which 4 has are in coffee production with the varieties of Caturra and Bourbon. It is located at an altitude of 1850 meters above sea level, today it is called FINCA ECOLOGICA AGUA COLORADA in honor of our community and for the great biodiversity that exists. As coffee growers we are focused on a sustainable management, resilience to climate changes and business vision.

At the beginnings its first cherries crop was about 10qq. Afterwards within 1999-2000, it began to produce 2.5 hectares, harvesting an amount of 30-40qq.

Up today the farm is producing an amount of 80 to 100 qq in the entire production area. The farm's objective is to improve increasing its production volume and organoleptic quality, while keeping the environmental harmony.
