Cafesmo Honduras

We are 280 farmer members and together we form Cafesmo, a coffee producing coop in Honduras, a stone's throw away from the Salvadoran and Guatemalan borders. Our individual fincas are relatively small, most of them ranging from 2 to 12 hectares. All our fincas are certified Fair Trade, Organic, RFA, and Bird Friendly, but we go beyond certifications. Indeed, our farms have 60 to 90% shade, we grow fruit trees and avocados, we keep bees for honey and pollination, and we actively work on water and soil management. At Cafesmo, we offer a large choice of coffee profiles. Regional washed lots with a clean cup and nice citric and chocolatey tones. Premium washed lots that are great for espresso or as single origin. And lots (lots!) of exciting micro lots: washed, semi0washed, honey, natural, anaerobic, but also yeast and koji fermented. Whatever it is that you are looking for, we have something for you. Our region - Ocotepeque - is known for its rich soil and perfect altitude range to grow unique, richly flavored coffees. We are convinced that Mercedes and Ocotepeque will continue to gain in fame over the next few years, and deservedly so. Most of our finca’s are located between 1,200 and 1,600 meters, although the lowest farms start at 950 meters and there are a few farms all the way up to 1,900 meters. Thanks to this varied topography, we have a long harvest season, that starts late October and lasts until March. Varieties include Pacas, Lempira, Parainema, Catuaí, Obatá, Pacamara, IHCAFE90…but also, to a lesser extent, more exotic varietals for some micro and nano lots. We have young people as well as less young members, women and men, someone who is a microbiologist, and one person who has been an elementary school teacher. for decades Together, we stand for ‘diversity and quality’, together we stand strong
