Gocta Coffee was born out of a deep love for coffee and the land. Founded by Sonia Díaz, a professional coffee cupper with over 8 years of experience in the world of specialty coffee, the company is rooted in the rich coffee-growing regions of Amazonas and Cajamarca, Peru — where quality coffee thrives in fertile soils and high altitudes. Sonia grew up in a family of coffee farmers, surrounded by the traditions and hard work of rural life. Her passion for coffee deepened after training as a Q grader (cupper), where she began to explore the unique flavor profiles that each coffee variety and terroir has to offer. With a vision to highlight the best of her homeland, she established her own 4-hectare specialty coffee farm at 1,750 meters above sea level in Amazonas. She named the farm Nuwa Senchi, which means "strong woman" in the Awuajún language, honoring the strength of women in her culture and community. The success of Nuwa Senchi inspired her family to follow her lead. This gave rise to other specialty plots such as La Colmena Dorada and Los Lirios, where prized varieties like Geisha, Bourbon, and Marshell are cultivated. Gocta Coffee is built on collaboration with like-minded farmers who share the same commitment to excellence. Among them is Roiber Becerra, who cultivates Geisha, Marshell, and Caturra varieties in his Finca Morales, a reference point for quality in Lonya Grande, Amazonas. Another key partner is the Ordóñez Díaz family, owners of Finca Doña Fica, located in Lonya Grande. On their farm, they also grow Geisha, Marshell, and Bourbon, and are proud partners in Gocta Coffee’s journey to showcase Peru’s finest coffees to the world. Today, Gocta Coffee not only stands out in Peru but has reached global markets, exporting high-quality specialty coffees to countries such as Australia, Singapore, Japan, Norway, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and others. Every cup of Gocta Coffee carries the hard work, passion, and heritage of Peruvian coffee producers — connecting local hands with global palates. At its core, Gocta Coffee is more than a company. It is a movement to elevate and celebrate Peruvian specialty coffee in its most authentic and refined form. Each bean tells a story, and that story is shared in every sip.
