Award-winning coffees with unique stories

Growing coffee is a passion! Toca da Onça farm, nestled in the Mantiqueira de Minas Gerais region, in Brazil, has been the home of our specialty coffee for over 40 years. This unique terroir, infuses the coffee microlots with flavours like yellow fruits, honey, caramel, notes of chocolate and almond. These finest tasting notes are complemented by exotic sensory tones such as jabuticaba berry, dried fruits, spices, and liquorice body, which are the results of natural sun-dried and fermentation processes used. The main varietals are Arara, Bourbon, Topazio and Mundo Novo. The farm’s altitude between 900m and 1.200m, favourable climate and wealth of natural resources are the basis of the production of coffees with exceptional flavours. In 2020, due to succession, Luciana took over her parents’s farm and immersed herself in specialty coffee. Trained as an architect and post graduated in sustainability for more than 20 years, she had no coffee experience and at the same time, she was free to develop her own style of farming and processing. Nevertheless, with technical assistance of the local cooperative Coopervass, agricultural engineer and her dedicated team lead by her curiosity, eye for detail and love for innovation helped her to produce prize-winning coffees years in a row. Toca da Onça farm is part of the Green Coffee Coopervass Project, where a group of farmers are seeking certification with their regenerative agriculture production methods. The socio-environmental approach not only tackles climate change, but also enhances soil health, biodiversity, and water storage, while sequestering carbon. Relationships are at the center of the production processes. The farm is always investing in continued training of their team of collaborators and in the improvement of post-harvest processes and techniques. Permanent conservation of native forest areas and protection of rivers and springs, in addition to the implementation of reforestation programs, is fundamental and can be certified. The farm uses renewable energy sources, photovoltaic panels, to power its operations and accommodation. The focus is attention to detail, essential for the result of spectacular coffees. This attention is present in both processes and people who participate in the complex production chain of a coffee that will transform your senses. Each year, the aim is to achieve excellent sensory scores and refine the special flavours of the produced coffees.
