About us Coricafé S.A. is nowadays the last private family-owned coffee exporter of Costa Rica, its history starts in 1965, founded by Uwe Thormahlen and Otto Kloeti. We have come a long way since the first 10,000 bags that were shipped to Europe that year. 1968 Coricafé builds its first dry mill in Tuetal de Alajuela and in 1987 Eric Thormahlen returns from Germany and joins the company, becoming the second generation on board. More than 50 years of impeccable experience, exporting the best out of Costa Rica 1997 The facility in Rio Segundo de Alajuela is acquired, and Coricafé is one of the only two exporters who own their own dry mill in Costa Rica. 1998 Our Co-Founder Otto Kloeti was awarded with the medal of Coffee Merit. In 2003, Stefan Wille, who started in the coffee business in 1990, joins the team and in 2010 our founder Uwe Thormahlen was awarded with the medal of Coffee Merit. In 2022, Nicole Thormahlen, the third generation, joins the company. Worldwide shipping Coricafé aims to be the leading independent coffee exporter in Costa Rica, recognized as a reliable counter-party locally and internationally. Concerned about the safety of your coffee, we exercise the outmost control at loading with BASC certification. We track 100% of our containers with GPS all the way to the ports. We also handle coffee from cooperatives and private mills with whom we have a very close and friendly relationship.
