La historia del café

Our Café Juventud Cooperativa is the result of a project full of hope and enthusiasm. In 2023, a group of young producers associated with Coopelibertad came together and formed a Generational Inclusion Commission. The aim of this Commission is to develop a Youth Policy within the Cooperative and to create a Program of Activities to educate, train, and promote the generational integration of young people within the Organization. It is within the framework of this wonderful program that the “Café Juventud Cooperativa” project was born! This coffee is the result of the harvest of more than 35 farms managed by young producers from Coopelibertad. The cooperative's administration has developed a specific marketing strategy for this group of young people's coffee production with the aim of finding roasters who see this project as a way to support generational integration at the producer level, promoting the purchase of coffee grown 100% by families where someone under the age of 45 wants to continue developing in the coffee industry.
Café Juventud Cooperativa enables this group of 35 producers to receive training workshops on agriculture, motivational talks, leadership, and empowerment, among other topics. In addition, for every 69 kg bag of this coffee that is exported, the Cooperative transfers an additional payment of $30 directly to this group of women under the “Juventud Award” program. The Award must be used for investments that impact the farm's productivity and is verified by the organization itself as part of the Youth Program's commitments.
By purchasing this coffee, the roaster is investing in the future of coffee production in Costa Rica and, in a way, ensuring the continuity of a healthy supply flow. By encouraging these families to improve their productivity and profitability, they will be able to continue producing coffee for many years to come through generational succession. One of the main problems in global agriculture is the aging of producers and the lack of involvement of new generations in the activity. Café Juventud Cooperativa seeks to change this situation, and we want you to join us in this effort!
