About
Certified Organic Kenyan Coffee
The Story of Kiqwetu Coffee Estate In the rolling hills of Kericho County, where the mist gently clings to the tea-covered slopes and the air is rich with the fragrance of earth and rain, lies Kiqwetu Coffee Estate. Established on reclaimed land that was once a bustling quarry, the estate is a testament to the resilience of both nature and people. Nestled at an elevation of 1,436 meters above sea level, Kiqwetu’s coffee trees stand tall and proud, thriving in the fertile soil of a place once scarred by extraction and destruction. Years ago, this land was barren, a result of years of mining that left the earth raw and exposed. But through determination and a vision for renewal, Kiqwetu was born. The land was lovingly restored, the scars slowly covered by nature’s own hand. The rich volcanic soil, combined with the perfect balance of altitude and climate, became the ideal home for the estate's organic coffee trees. At Kiqwetu, we are more than just coffee producers. We are stewards of the land. Our farm is certified organic, a commitment we hold dear, not only to the environment but to the team who work the land. We cultivate our beans without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, relying instead on natural processes that preserve the integrity of the soil and the surrounding ecosystem. The coffee is grown in harmony with the native trees and plants, creating a diverse and healthy environment for both the crops and the wildlife. As the morning mist lifts and the sun climbs higher over the estate, the coffee cherries ripen slowly, each one hand-picked at its peak of flavor. The workers, a dedicated team from the local community, harvest the cherries with care, ensuring only the best beans are selected. From there, they are processed using the most traditional methods, enhancing their distinctive flavor profiles that speak of the rich land they come from. The journey from the reclaimed quarry to the rich coffee beans in the cup has been one of renewal and passion, a story that reflects both the land's transformation and the commitment of the people who call it home. Kiqwetu Coffee Estate is more than just a farm; it is a living legacy—a symbol of what can be achieved when care for the earth meets the wisdom of generations. Every cup of Kiqwetu coffee tells a story of resilience, renewal, and the deep connection between the land, the farmers, and the coffee drinker. From the reclaimed land of Kericho, where the soil sings with the promise of a brighter future, Kiqwetu Coffee Estate brings you coffee that is as pure as the mountain air, as rich as the history it was built upon.
