Specialty Coffee from Venezuela
This coffee is grown in the Merida state of the Tropical Andes of Venezuela which was historically known as producing among the best coffees in the world , known as "Merida coffees" The area is known as the " Valle de Mocoties" which is a long stretched valley that was shaped by the Mocoties river. The area is part of the watershed of the Maracaibo lake that connects with the Caribbean sea. It is an exceptional special coffee growing area with a climat that is greatly influenced by the Maracaibo lake on one slope and the Mocoties river on the other. This unique micro climat offers optimal growing conditions for coffee. The area is known for its fertile , deep soils with balanced content of sand , lime and clay and high % of organic matter. High quality coffee is grown here since colonial times. The "Villa Nueva" variety is grown under half shade and has mixed management ( both organic as conventional practices)
