The coffee story

This coffee is perfectly harvested by farmer Kamanyi Rogers, who lives just outside of the Mount Elgon forest at 1980 m above sea level. He grows coffee in the Kapkwai parish, Kapchorwa district, in the Sipi Falls regional area. Over 100 people from the community are employed by Kamanyi at the time of harvest and they spice the cool forest breeze with their sweet songs.

The process

Only the red ripe cherries are picked and taken to our station where they are sundried for three days with regular racking. On the following days, the coffee is dried in shaded beds until it reaches the optimum moisture levels for storage. The cherries need around 25-29 days to dry fully.
