Glanmalure is a small specialty coffee farm near Ngila Estate Ltd in Northern Tanzania. We sit on the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater. The farm has grown coffee for around 100 years in an altitude from 1600 to 1650 masl. We grow traditional varietals like Kent, Bourbons and SL28 and also new ones like Batian, Gesha and Pacamara. Our coffees grow under the shade of native trees and we are keeping about 80 ha of preserved original rainforest next to the plantation, going up to more than 1800 m high. This forest is connected to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and to the Serengeti plains. Our pesticides program based now for more than 5 years on natural measurements. We are using natural insecticides, like Neem extract. We work with compost but also with mineral fertilizers. We do traditional fully washed coffees with a water-saving Colombian eco-pulper. Seller (Pending)This is the brighter of the two new Glanmalure lots with notes of citrus supported by dark chocolate and a pleasant aftertaste. Glanmalure is the name of a specific area of Ngila and this is a well-developed lot from the main crop that is representative of our farm. We determine the trees that we are going to pick using a Brix meter, picking is selective and sorting is very intensive. The volcanic soil is rich in minerals, resulting in a cup profile with a structured and balanced acidity. Processing: After floaters are eliminated the cherries are de-pulped using a water-saving eco pulper. They then go to a demucilator where the fruit flesh is removed inside a rotating drum. Next, the coffees go to a fermentation tank and soak/ferment for up to 18 hours. The wet parchment goes to the sorting table to be cleaned of damaged or underripe beans and finally to African beds to dry under the sun for 1 to 2 weeks.
Once the ordering period ends we will consolidate all coffees in a shared container. During transport, your coffee is fully insured. We will keep you informed about the shipment status.
Upon arrival of the coffee at the warehouse, you can choose between 2 delivery modes:
- Doorstep delivery: We will take care of transport to your roastery. We will provide your coffee fully insured until it is ready for unloading from the truck at your roastery.
- EXW (ex. warehouse) means that we will provide the coffee ready for pick-up at the terminal of the warehouse. You are responsible for organising transport and insurance from the warehouse to your roastery.
Currently, we can deliver coffee anywhere in Europe, except Hungary. For all European buyers, the coffee will be provided custom cleared in any case. Roasters in Switzerland choosing EXW will be responsible for customs clearance.
