Our brand is named Zenith Coffee because it is located at one of the highest grounds in El Salvador. We are Karla and Alvaro, 5th generation of coffee producers and we manage Las Neblinas Estate Coffee, made of two small but very productive farms in Apaneca, El Salvador: Finca Puerto Arturo and El Carmencito. They date from 1875 when Alvaro's grandfather bought them. He passed them down to his mother and, in 2014, Karla's father acquired it from and gave it to us as a gift. Our sons will be the 6th generation. They are proud of our roots and will keep the family traditions. The farms are located at the Cordillera Apaneca-Ilamatepec, one of the most popular coffee-producing regions in the country and known as the "Golden Belt". We sit next to the Cerro Grande de Apaneca where we have a panoramic view of the Cordillera del Bálsamo. We renewed 85% of our trees in 2014, dedicating our land to specialty varieties with great potential for cup quality in order to produce excellent coffees.

Farm: Las Neblinas Estate Farms (Fincas Puerto Arturo and El Carmencito) Producers: Karla Quirós de Moisés and Álvaro Moisés Farm manager: Álvaro Moisés Farm size: 16.7 hectares Location: Apaneca town, Ahuachapán department, Apaneca-Illamatepec Mountain Range Altitude: 1480 to 1650 m Soil: Sandy Harvest season: December to March Average age of trees: 5 years old Average rainfall: 1700 to 2500 mm Average temperature: 22C Cultivated varieties: Red, Orange and Pink Bourbon, Pacamara, Catimor and CR95 We are the 5th generation of coffee producers in our family (my kids will be the 6th!). Las Neblinas Estate Coffees is made of two farms: Puerto Arturo and El Carmencito. They are small but very productive plots with over 150 years of history. Located on the highest mountains of the Apaneca-Illamatepec mountain range in tropical El Salvador, they were both owned by the family of Alvaro's mother and became famous as one of the best local coffee farms back in the day.  My father, who used to grow coffee in the Eastern part of the country, bought the two farms after falling in love with Apaneca-Illamatepec. He gave the farms to me and my husband as a gift and they have a very strong sentimental value to us. We took over in 2014 and turned two traditional farms into specialty coffee-producing ones by replanting 90% of the trees with new varieties and introducing new processes.
