The coffee story

This is a family farm located in Nkubu town - this is located on the eastern slopes of Mount Kenya within Meru county.
Farmer - Amos Mwenda Mberia after taking early retirement made the decision to invest on the family farm and pursue more organic and sustainable practices on the farm. The farm has a lot of shade with over 1000 trees and coffee being intercropped with various trees ranging from Macadamia, Banana and indigenous Meru oak trees. Mberia is passionate about continuing his journey towards continuous improvement in learning new farming methods and coffee processing techniques and also emphasises the need for coffee producers to diversify their income sources especially in harsh unpredictable economic situations , he has invested in many younger coffee trees to ensure continuous production and other crops that substitute his income such as tomatoes, macadamia and various fruit trees.

The process

The coffee cherries are handpicked, sorted, soaked in fermentation tanks and then dried on raised beds until they achieve right moisture content.

Kibari AA is a refreshing and fruity washed coffee. Very clean and aromatic that leaves a sweet aftertaste of flower honey. Red berries, citrus, rhubarb, spice-nice. Nice round and velvety body, pomegranate.
