The process
The Robusta harvest season runs from January to March. Red Ripe coffee is picked by the farmers and sun dried to perfection. At the FTAK collection depots the coffee is checked for moisture (always below 12%) and bought by the cooperative. It is moved in truck loads to the curing works (factory) to be hulled, polished and graded. Representative samples are sent to prospective buyers and on confirmation of order, coffee is hulled, bulked, and preshipment samples are sent to the buyer. On confirmation order the produced lot of Robusta Cherry is shipped to the buyer. FTAK and its products (coffee, but also cashews, spices, cocoa) are fairtrade (FLO), EU organic and Rainforest Alliance certified. Furthermore, they are the first group in Asia to be certified according to the Small Producer Symbol (SPP, for its Spanish acronym), the first fair trade farmer-owned certification system.FTAK-FTO-17

Fair Trade Alliance Kerala (FTAK) is a farmer organisation that was founded in 2005 in Kerala, South India; it is the first coffee cooperative to be fair trade certified from India. Today, more than 6’000 farmers are members of the organisation. Amongst them, around 1’800 small coffee producers are all located in the Wayanad district of Kerala, in the Western Ghats hills, which is a world heritage site. The farmers also reside within the Nilgiri Biosphere, a world biodiversity hotspot. Coffee, mainly Robusta, is produced between 700-1000 meter above see level. Elements Homestead Products Ltd. is the exporting partner of FTAK.

Shipping
Once the ordering period ends we will consolidate all coffees in a shared container. During transport, your coffee is fully insured. We will keep you informed about the shipment status.
Upon arrival of the coffee at the warehouse, you can choose between 2 delivery modes:
- Doorstep delivery: We will take care of transport to your roastery. We will provide your coffee fully insured until it is ready for unloading from the truck at your roastery.
- EXW (ex. warehouse) means that we will provide the coffee ready for pick-up at the terminal of the warehouse. You are responsible for organising transport and insurance from the warehouse to your roastery.
Currently, we can deliver coffee anywhere in Europe, except Hungary. For all European buyers, the coffee will be provided custom cleared in any case. Roasters in Switzerland choosing EXW will be responsible for customs clearance.

When calculating price, you can select your preferred currency: USD, CHF, EUR, or GBP.
