The coffee story

*This lot is being offered by San Miguel with a minimum order of 10 bags. If you wish to discuss a different request please get in touch with our sales team.

Entre Volcanes is a small producer program developed by the San Miguel Mill in Antigua, Guatemala. This program includes around 500 small producers to this day. This SHB (Strictly High Bean) Fancy comes from producers based in the towns of San Miguel Dueñas & Ciudad Vieja.

San Miguel provides technical assistance, farm visits, and financing to the producers in the program year-round, making it a team effort to grow the best cherries that will later be delivered to San Miguel mill for processing.

The Entre Volcanes program has been a favourite of many companies that focus on quality and especially consistency. The Entre Volcanes program also supports its producers with seedlings, medical and dental clinic services, and other benefits.

What makes Entre Volcanes special is quality and consistency delivered through a real sustainable program that impacts positively in the nearby communities

Antigua is famous for its coffees as one of the oldest names for Guatemalan beans. It is characterized by rich volcanic soil, warm days, cool nights and high altitudes surrounded by three volcanoes (Agua, Acatenango and Fuego, the last one still active), all of which provide great environments for dense beans to grow. Temperatures range from 17 to 22 degrees Celsius and rainfall ranges from 32 to 48 inches.

The story of San Miguel- Single Origin Coffees begins more than 50 years ago when Arturo Falla Cofiño embarked on a new adventure when he purchased the farm El Tempixque. El Tempixque is located just a short drive from Antigua, a world heritage site, in the village of San Miguel Dueñas. The farm is nestled amongst three majestic and active volcanoes, Agua, Fuego and Acatenango. The coffees from San Miguel are as unique as the location itself. In addition to coffee, El Tempixque produced another of El Canche’s loves: ornamental plants. The farm is home to a beautiful nursery of poinsettias and orchids. El Tempixque’s orchids have given rise to new and unique varieties and have received awards on numerous occasions. “El Canche” (The Blond) farmed coffee and orchids at El Tempixque for 30 years until he passed away. At that time, his son, Estuardo Falla, faced a crossro
