The coffee story
Sat in the high hills of Bolivia’s coffee heartland, Taypiplaya was established more than 25 years ago by migrants from the altiplano (high lands) of the Potosi department.
Today, the community relies on income from coffee and citrus production for their livelihoods. The area planted with coffee in which farm is small, from 1 to 2 hectares. Producers keep the rest of their land as wild forests. The soil in this region is very rich, the elevation goes from 1,500 to 1850 m.a.s.l and the weather is subtropical. Caturra, Catuai and Bourbon are the main varietals and they grow mixed.
In 2018, many families from the colony Taypiplaya joined our program "Sol De La Mañana" in order to reactivate coffee production in that region.
