Why Ko-Kos?
The name Ko-kos (pronounced Kõh-kôs in the Nandi language) is derived from our family’s heraldic animal, the Martial Eagle (P.Bellicosup), a pre-imminent and inspirational character, whose royal valour can boldly be felt by anyone who gives our Coffee a Slurp.
History
Established in April 2019, Ko-kos Coffee Farm is part of the larger Boroon Estate a mixed-farming enterprise. It is situated at Segero, in Uasin Gishu county; right on the slopes of the Cherangany Hills of the Great Rift Valley. Although the site is not in Kenya's traditional coffee cycle, it has recently gained a reputation for its high-quality beans. This is mainly due to the ongoing coffee research and mostly, due to the following favourable natural factors: Despite all the above natural benefits, we are actively using compost, mulch and manure without synthetic herbicides and other pollutants. Equator: Eldoret, the nearest town, is situated about 60 kilometres to the north.
