Origin
The Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the "Mountains of the Moon," rise majestically in western Uganda, stretching over 120 kilometers and reaching heights of more than 5,100 meters. With snow-capped peaks and glacier-fed streams, the cooler high-altitude climate offers a refreshing escape from the heat of the lowlands. The mountains are rich in biodiversity and are home to the Bakonzo tribe, who have farmed coffee on the mountain slopes for over 50 years.
The smallholder farmers who contribute to this coffee grow their crops along the mountain’s fertile slopes, harnessing its rich soil and unique climate to cultivate high-quality coffee.
Process
Farmers supply green ungraded coffee, which they have harvested and sun- dried at home. The coffee is then taken to lab for green bean analysis and cupping to ensure purchase of quality coffee. Once coffee delivered the quality check it is then purchased and graded to remove defects and extraneous matter. Clean graded coffee is packed in 60kg standard jute bags, ready for export.
