La Casiana has been the home to three generations of a family dedicated to producing the best Colombian coffees. The farm is located at 1750 metres above sea level in the western mountain range of the Andes in the municipality of Jardín, Antioquia. Mario, a second-generation coffee grower, runs the operation. His sons, Esteban and Daniel, assist him in administrative and commercial matters. Our family is convinced that those who come after us will receive a better land than the one we received. This is why we are committed to sustainability.
Our farm is part of a group of fincas that have been Rainforest Alliance TM certified as a group for about 10 years.
Mild, washed coffees. That is what we are known for. We produce traditional varieties like Castillo and Colombia. We expect to harvest the first big crop of Cenicafé 1 at the end of 2021. Our coffee is characterised by its bright, medium acidity; round, balanced body; aroma and fragrance of panela, caramel and bitter chocolate; sweet, fruity aftertaste.
At La Casiana we are able to offer 120,000 to 140,000 kgs of green coffee throughout the year. We harvest all year round; however, our harvest is concentrated in the months of October, November and December. In the months of April and May, we harvest what we call the "traviesa".
We are in the process of building a solar dryer, or "canopy". This will allow us to dry coffee in the sun, which will reduce our costs and allow us to offer "Honey" and "Natural" coffees.
