At Sumatra Permata Gayo Cooperative, our story begins not with factories, but with families. We are a farmer owned cooperative of over 520 smallholders in the Gayo Highlands of Aceh, Indonesia. For generations, our members have sun-dried their ripe coffee cherries using the natural process guided by intuition, climate, and tradition.
What once began as a humble, low-tech method has evolved into a craft we now execute with precision.
Today, Natural Gayo stands apart from other natural processed coffees around the world.
Thanks to our region’s unique microclimate and high elevation, we achieve slow and even cherry drying with minimal risk of defects. Unlike naturals that can be wild or overly winey, our coffees deliver a refined, fruit-forward cup with exceptional clarity and balance.
From our farms to your roastery, Natural Gayo delivers:
- Clean fermentation without overpowering funk
- Syrupy texture and rich tropical fruit notes
- Long, spiced finish with hints of cardamom or cacao
- Consistency and traceability backed by a cooperative model
- Shared values of sustainability, fairness, and quality
As a cooperative, every bag of Natural Gayo you roast supports real farmers, their families, and their future.
This is more than a processing method.
This is Natural Gayo rooted in the earth, refined by our people, and ready for your cup.
