La historia del café

This comminity had participated in COE for 3 years and had gotter 13th place twice, but finally they got 4th place on 2023 COE.
The Union of Ejidos and Communities San Fernando was constituted on 26 July 2012, with the aim of seeking the association of small coffee producers, who together would seek marketing channels for their product avoiding middlemen.

In the beginning, we produced conventional (non-organic) coffee. But as the organisation matured, we began to consider which would be the most appropriate mechanisms to satisfy the organisation's primary objectives, which were, in addition to the commercialisation of coffee, to improve the social and economic conditions of the producers' environment, to care for and promote respect for the environment and to conserve renewable and non-renewable natural resources. In this sense, the organisation began a process of transition from traditional to organic crops.

Today, the Union of Ejidos and Communities San Fernando is one of the most consolidated social enterprises in Chiapas, bringing together more than 1.300 families of small coffee producers who own an average of 2 hectares of coffee each, located in the municipalities of San Fernando, Ocozocoautla, Villa Corzo, La Concordia, Siltepec, Angel Albino Corzo, Bella Vista, Chicomuselo, Montecristo, Amatenango and Tuxtla Gutiérrez, municipalities that are located in the central, Frailesca and Sierra economic zones of the state of Chiapas.

For this coffee they use cultivation techniques and work that do not harm the environment, as well as using organic fertilisers that they produce themselves.
