With over 50 years in the market, CLAC La Florida began in 1966 after decades of abuse from local buyers, who had a strong price monopoly in the region. It was one of the first cooperatives in Peru to sell directly to Europe without brokers or local intermediaries. It was also one of the first Peruvian coops to go to international fairs and to become Faitrade certified. La Florida has always invested premiums in the community, developing roads, power networks, schools and health centres. Focused on traceability, La Florida can offer lots separated by village and by farm.
[This lot is produced exclusevely by the 126 women who are members of La Florida]
“We had stable weather this year and we can see that the quality of the coffees is coming out nicely. It’s summer and we have some rain, which is helping with the even maturation of the cherries. Though we had inconveniences in April because of COVID, with no access to logistical services, now things are getting back to normal. Instead of having a big collection point in Pichanaki, where we are based, we opened several small points in the countryside, making it easier for the producers to deliver the coffee. - Lenides, Quality Control ”
