About

The country of El Salvador is located on the western coast of Central America, at 13° 49' 27.8832'' N and 88° 45' 2.3328'' W. For over 100 years, it’s been the home of a family-owned coffee plantation that has always strived to produce an excellent product. The name Café 13 88 originated from the country’s coordinates and demonstrates the roots of family tradition and relates its origin with a top-quality product. Our coffee originates from Finca Montevideo and San Agustín. The two adjacent estates span a total of 380 acres with altitudes ranging between 4,265 to 5,577 feet (1,300 - 1,700 m) above sea level on the slopes of the San Salvador Volcano. We primarily grow Bourbon coffee varieties in addition to Typica, Pacas, Pacamara, and Geisha, primarily categorized as Specialty and Strictly High Grown (SHG) coffee. Here, all of these species grow in rich volcanic soil along with year-round diligence and attention to their needs.

In the past, the plantation focused on providing coffee beans to large coffee processors where the transformation was more quantitative than qualitative. As requirements and demands have evolved, we have changed accordingly our approach and have begun to harvest, process, and roast small batches for the specialty market. Café 13 88 was born due to quality and excellence, and became a product of distinction, thus our highest priority.
