Microlots of Natural and washed coffees

Finca La Serranía is located in the region of El Progreso, San Cristobal Acasaguastlán, in the Mountain Range of “Sierra de Las Minas”, Guatemala. The coffee plantation is situated in a rainforest environment that provides a unique microclimate, due to the descendent cold and humid air from Sierra de Las Minas in the evenings, and warm ascendant winds from the river Motagua’s valley during the day. The annual rainfall is 2,500 to 3,000 mm. Pedro Fernández acquired his own farm in 1985 and founded “La Serranía”. Besides coffee, the farm also produces other crops simultaneously in an ethical and sustainable way: ornamental plants, cardamom, and pine trees. Among production areas, untouched corridors of local flora are found; thus providing crystal clear water springs and local fauna throughout the farm. Respect for natural resources is Pedro Fernández´s concern and pass them to future generations, his purpose. Finca La Serranía is proud to be a affiliated with Anacafe and to be an active member of “Mujeres en Café Guatemala”. Maria José, Pedro´s eldest daughter started working as Sales and Marketing Manager at Finca La Serranía in 2017. Together, they make a great team and her mission is to continue Pedro´s legacy of hard work, care for the environment, and passion for coffee. Since January 2021 Finca La Serranía, in collaboration with FUNCAFE, started a Coffee Kindergarten for the youngest children and a Coffee Camp for the eldest ones. There are currently 23 children from La Serrania and neighboring farms, attending classes every weekday. The teachers participate in training workshops organized by FUNCAFE´s personnel, to teach the specific academic curriculum proposed by FUNCAFE and approved by the Ministry of Education.
