About

Great terroir, modern facilities and strong R&D.

70 years ago, my grandfather (Mr. Barreto) migrated to the Brazilian Southeast in search for a job opportunity and to escape from the everlasting drought that occurred in the deep countryside of the Northeast (semi-arid region). At first, he was employed in coffee farms, as a harvester and land worker, and through a lot of work, ambition and intelligence, he was able to develop a coffee processing unit. In the 1960’s, a great frost devastated coffee productions and forced the family to abandon the business and search of an opportunity in the construction industry. The business thrived, our grandparents perished, but the passion for the coffee remained. Six decades later, me and my father were able to find the lost thread of an ancient passion, acquiring Fazenda Araucária to produce sustainable specialty coffees and wines.
