Capucas provides space for female producers to start roasting, packaging and selling roasted coffee from their farms. The group started with 23 founding members (including Capucas quality manager Iris Alvarado) and today there are 93 members, all women that are either head of household or that own farmers with husbands and also daughters of farmers. The group organizes training in cupping and roasting, offers a roasting service to other growers and provides paid employment to its members, who rotate at the group's headquarters at Capucas, earning 300 lempiras a day.
