The coffee story
Right now, it’s almost impossible to get hold of a quality Robusta in Europe or indeed anywhere else. Yet baristas, consumers and leading voices in the coffee industry are increasingly looking to Robustas, not just for environmental and ecological reasons, but for the unique taste profiles they can offer.
This is a rare chance to bring a genuinely new coffee experience to the world: Robusta that’s sustainable, fair, and can share a platform with any top Arabica.
This is a rare chance to bring a genuinely new coffee experience to the world: Robusta that’s sustainable, fair, and can share a platform with any top Arabica.
We’re reaching out to bold and forward-thinking roasters to partner with us to create and champion a Robusta like no other.
WHAT MAKES MACENTA BEANS ROBUSTA SO SPECIAL?
TASTE
Every single Macenta Beans coffee has a unique taste, which is due to the special soil conditions and microclimate in the Macenta rainforest region. Our coffee has a GI (= Geographical Indication), which means that there is no other Robusta like Macenta Beans Robusta.
TRANSPARENCY
We buy the coffee cherries directly from coffee farmers, process the cherries ourselves and sell the beans ourselves. Thus, we can offer our customers full transparency.
FAIR TRADE
We pay our coffee farmers three times more for the coffee than the regular market price. In addition, we transfer know-how, support them financially and with our flagship plantation we create a place for exchange, learning and networking.
SOCIAL IMPACT
We create new perspectives and make a real difference in the lives of the people of Macenta. Long-term! And we are there not only during the coffee season, but all year round - through our fruit and vegetable project we create jobs not only for the coffee farmers. Thus, we are improving lives of the whole community.
GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
We use no fertilizers, no chemicals. We plant regularly new coffee plants. In 2022 we provided selected farmers with 150.000 new coffee plants! We practice waste-free production. Our Robusta creates habitats for bees and insects. Our Robusta is not grown in monocultures, improving the soil conditions of the rainforest.
ACTIVELY AGAINST DEFORESTATION
Due to the increased income from coffee, more and more coffee farmers are motivated to stay in coffee production instead of logging everything and replacing it with palm oil plantation, which is unfortunately common in many other regions and is becoming a big threat for the rainforest. We are actively fighting this trend.
ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT
No coffee-growing country in the world is closer to Europe than Guinea. Thus, our coffee beans have a short travel.
