algrano is a Swiss tech and coffee startup that changes the global trade of coffee. We have set ourselves an ambitious goal: to revolutionize the centuries old coffee trade industry and make it transparent and digital. Through the algrano online platform, coffee growers promote and sell their coffees straight to roasters in Europe without worrying about the logistics. Awarded at our launch in 2015 as the best innovation by the European Coffee Industry Association, we currently count more than 1’000 growers and roasters from all over the world. Backed by a strong investors' network our vision is to become the key direct coffee trading platform.

The Role

As Sourcing manager, you will be responsible to further build algrano’s presence in producing countries. You will evaluate and onboard new growers on the platform and manage existing relationships with growers. You will be travelling at least 20% of your time to the different coffee origins, mainly in Latin America. You will closely collaborate with Gilles (Founder and Head of coffee), Veronika (Quality assurance), Nadine (Logistics) as well as with the sales team.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Identify and onboard new growers and cooperatives.
  • Introduce and train growers and cooperatives’ staff on algrano’s model and platform.
  • Collaborate with cooperatives and exporters to establish new, transparent and service based supply chains at origin.
  • Train algrano’s sales team on onboarded growers, showcasing their story, qualities they produced, region they come from.
  • Manage relationships with cooperatives, receiving offers and transforming them into contracts.
  • Support logistics team in contract execution

Your Profile

You are passionate about coffee, you believe in the vertical integration of growers in the coffee supply chain and the power of technology to boost this change. You like to travel and want to develop your career in the coffee trade.

Your strengths include:

  • hands on, pragmatic and not afraid to develop new supply chains with small growers organizations in producing countries
  • patient and can explain innovation in simple words
  • well organized and pay attention to details
  • self managed, you know how to prioritize your work in order to meet deadlines
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and an engaging personality

Your experience, background and skills include:

  • You have 2+ years of global sourcing experience, ideally in green coffee at origin or within an importing company
  • You feel comfortable to work in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
  • You are eligible to work in Switzerland, you hold a CH/EU/EFTA passport, or you hold a B or C residence permit.

Bonus points for:

  • Knowledge of Portuguese
  • Q-Grader certificate
